DSP‑SYN (Digital Signal Processing for Synthesis)
Lab Leader: Prof Joseph Timoney (Computer Science Department, Maynooth University) — Joseph.Timoney@mu.ie
In the DSP‑SYN research lab, we develop algorithms and techniques for digital sound synthesis, audio signal processing, and computational modelling of sound. Our work includes both traditional DSP methods and modern machine‑learning approaches for generating and shaping audio. -
MUSE (Music, Signal, and Electronic)
Lab Leader: Prof Victor Lazzarini (Music Department, Maynooth University)
The MUSE lab focuses on electronic music systems, sound synthesis, digital audio processing, and computational musicology. Research includes MIR‑related modelling, algorithmic composition, and the development of new tools for electronic and computer‑based music creation. -
MIRM (Music Information Retrieval and Modelling)
Lab Leader: Dr Behnam Faghih (Computer Science Department, Maynooth University) — Behnam.Faghih@mu.ie
Faculty Collaborators: Prof Joseph Timoney (Computer Science Department, Maynooth University), Prof Victor Lazzarini (Music Department, Maynooth University)
In the MIRM research lab, we are developing algorithms and techniques for Music Information Retrieval (MIR) and modelling music. We use both traditional signal‑processing methods and machine‑learning (deep learning) techniques to analyse, classify, and understand musical structure, performance, and audio content.
